But there is a touch of divinity even in brutes, and a special halo about a horse, that should forever exempt him from indignities.
~Herman Melville, American writer, 1819-1891
Our Offerings

Having transformational conversations in the presence of horses.
At Horses Have Halos, I work with women and girls so they can learn life and relationship skills through guided interactions with horses.
HORSES AND HUMANS HEALING TOGETHER.
Can humans truly heal when horses are forced to participate? In our approach to wellness for both horses and humans, horses at liberty serve as equal co-facilitators and help create a safe and engaging space for personal growth and development. Their presence acts as a catalyst to reveal what the participant most needs to discover about themselves.

Horses Have Halos supports girls and women navigating life transitions:
-
pre-teens/teens transitioning into adolescence and adulthood
-
career changes
-
marriage and couples sessions
-
divorce
-
widowhood
-
perimenopause and menopause
-
retirement
Our program offers a unique approach to wellness, combining the wisdom of horses with facilitated guidance. Through interactions with "Equine Educators", participants become aware of their relationship to the horses and the lessons learned are applied to life outside the barn.
Join us on a journey of self-discovery and growth in a peaceful and supportive environment.
IN THE HEARD
When you are together with horses "in the heard" you will be in a non-judgmental space where you will experience deep listening; you will be truly seen and heard. In sessions, individuals frequently address:

SESSIONS
At Horses Have Halos, horses are viewed as an equal partner in fostering authentic connections. Sessions do not usually include a concrete activity or plan and do not include mounted work. Typically, a session consists of observation of horses in their natural habitat, grooming, or simply interacting with the horse at liberty. Dr. Veronica Lac, Founder and Executive Director of The Herd Institute puts it this way: "It's not about the activity, it's about the relationship."
Note: While Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) IS therapeutic, it is NOT therapy and is therefore not a substitute for professional mental health care and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any mental health or medical conditions.

About Horses Have Halos
My name is Monica Butschek
Like many girls, I fell in love with horses when I was 10 and started riding lessons. As I grew up and life "got in the way" I took riding lessons on and off throughout my life. Working in corporate America for over 35 years and having earned a Masters in Psychology, I was immediately attracted to Equine Facilitated Learning and recognized its potential for mental wellness and applications for everyone in their everyday lives.
I am the guardian of my horse, King, who is a retired Paint. I acquired him in my 40s and quickly realized that he would be a transformative influence in my life. Now, I hope to help other women discover and experience the therapeutic benefits of spending unridden time with horses "in the heard."

I have completed Foundation 1 certification in Equine Facilitated Learning through The Herd Institute.

Follow Horses Have Halos on Facebook to stay
up-to-date with workshops and events.

In just my first session with Horses Have Halos, I left feeling more confident about myself and how I can move forward in my life. Monica's voice is very calming and my anxiety was reduced just by listening to her. The affirmations we spoke were beautiful and it was a great experience!
